Dual Blade quests: what is known

Many Dual Blade quests of the imported server base had scripts missing. They are being rebuilt one at a time, from the client data. This page separates what has a source from what is a hypothesis. The details are in the project documents docs/known-issues.md and docs/CHANGELOG.md.

Rebuilt from client data

These use the quest data (Say.img, Act.img, Check.img) for the dialogue and rewards, so the content follows the client:

• Quests 2618, 2631, 2633, 2635, 2637, 2387 (The Dual Blade's Path), 2645 and 2646 (The Explorer Book and A Maple Leaf) got start scripts, and 2387 and 2646 also end scripts. Some have no Say.img text for the start, so the line comes from the quest info.
• Quest 2613 (Investigating the Dark Lord) and the chain it needs (2614 and 2616) were stuck for lack of scripts. Where there is no Act.img, the rewards come from a wiki, not from the client.
• Taeha (The Secret Garden Basement) opened an empty shop. A shop was registered with the two quest items for 2616 and 2617 at 1 meso, plus potions from a wiki. The two quest items always show, whatever your quest state.

Reconstructions without the original script (hypotheses)

For these the original script was not found in any source. The behaviour was rebuilt from game data and is labelled as a reconstruction in the file headers:

• Quest 2620 (The Hut in the Swamp): the entrance portal, the exit and the Knocked Trash Can that holds the Secret Document. With the quest in progress the portal takes you to the hut, the trash can gives the document once, and the exit takes you back.
• Quest 2621 (Investigating the Jazz Bar): the secret portal of map 103000003 and the Dark Lord's Diary. Nothing is known about what the portal does for players not on the quest, or about the plain rooms behind it.
• Quest 2631 (Jeppi): the portal into Jeppi's hideout and the map script that creates 10 Dark Disciples. The positions of the Disciples are a guess.
• Quests 32152 to 32155 (Ellinel Fairy Academy introduction, including the Dual Blade one with Lady Syl): rebuilt from the sibling quest 32151. The lines may differ by class from the original.

Drops with guessed rates

Several quest items had no drop at all in the database (for instance the Lost in Transit Box of quest 2619, the Cootie's Report Page, and eight items of quests 2359, 2378, 2527, 2753, 2757, 2775, 2788 and 2789). Drops were added for the mob each quest text names. The rate used, 75%, is a hypothesis: there was no source for the original. Quest items only drop for players who have the quest in progress.

A bug that affected Dual Blades

Some quests (89 in all) list their prerequisite quests as alternatives. For a Dual Blade, quest 32256 asks for 32240 or 2646, which exclude each other, but the server asked for both and refused the quest. This was fixed in the server.

Still open

When the Dual Blade audit was first made, 43 quest starts and 3 quest endings still had no script. The number changes as fixes arrive; quest 32240 (the Explorer version) still has no script. Found something stuck? Report it: bug bounty.
